| We are a public speaking club called
Linlithgow Speakers. We are the Linlithgow branch of Toastmasters International and held our first meeting on 31 August 2004.
Our members are encouraged to learn the art of public speaking by speaking
to groups and working with others in a supportive environment.
Linlithgow Speakers will meet every second Tuesday from 7.45pm to 9.45pm at The Lowport Centre, Blackness Road, Linlithgow EH49 7HZ.
Good communicators, says a leading management consultant, are seen as more effective and more powerful than their less eloquent counterparts. Persuasive speaking is an important and valued skill. It helps you to put ideas across, make more sales, give successful presentations, gain promotion and do your work more effectively. It also affects people's perceptions of you in meetings, on the telephone and in one-to-one relationships. Whatever your goals may be, much of your success in life depends on your ability to communicate effectively. Virtually every executive position advertised specifies the need for communication skills, which are generally regarded as key elements in building a successful career. Toastmasters International provides the tools to develop these important skills. In Toastmasters, you learn by doing, by speaking to groups in comfortable and supportive surroundings, rather than a sterile classroom environment. The Toastmasters programme has proved
itself around the world. Globally, more than three million people of all
ages and occupations have taken part, and gross membership of Toastmasters
International increases at a rate of about 250 people a day. There are more
than 195,000 members in more than 9,300 clubs in approximately 80 countries.
